This equipment can be installed in the contractor’s workshop or on site before or after commissioning. Maintenance costs are reduced, as are also the use of expensive environmentally harmful cleaning chemicals.
System
The system works by installing small nylon-bristle brushes into small baskets in the ends of the condenser or heat exchanger tubes.
A four way water valve operated by a simple control panel is used to periodically reverse the water flow. The brushes are propelled in the water flow through the tubes, removing any debris and soft carbonated salt deposits.
After a short period the four way valve is returned to the normal flow position returning the brushes to their original positions in their holding baskets.

A design secret
All heat exchangers are delivered with manufacturing tube side fouling from workshop dust or oil used during rolling of the tubes.
This fouling is declared as an derating of the heat exchanger design performance as a fouling factor, to which the plant design engineer adds further fouling factors for hard or muddy water etc.
With the on load brush cleaning system not only the hard water (muddy) fouling is removed but also so is the manufacturer’s internal design fouling.
Resulting measurements in the field have recorded savings in energy of between 15% and 30% - just by keeping the tubes brushed.
